Candidates should possess a demonstrable track record of progressively responsible roles, ideally with some supervisory experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience in ground handling operations is generally expected, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
: Job Skills:
* **Ramp Operations:** Expertise in overseeing and coordinating all activities on the airport ramp, ensuring efficient and safe aircraft turnaround.
* **Baggage Handling Systems:** Comprehensive understanding of baggage handling systems, including conveyor belts, sorting mechanisms, and security protocols, to ensure smooth and timely baggage processing.
* **Aircraft Marshalling:** Proficient in guiding aircraft safely to and from parking stands, adhering to strict safety regulations and visual signaling techniques.
* **Load Control:** Knowledgeable in load control principles and procedures, ensuring accurate weight and balance calculations for safe and efficient aircraft loading.
* **Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Operation:** Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of various GSE, such as baggage tractors, aircraft loaders, and ground power units, ensuring equipment readiness and safety.
* **Airport Safety Regulations (e.g., FAA, IATA):** In-depth understanding of airport safety regulations and compliance standards set by regulatory bodies like the FAA and IATA, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
* **Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR):** Certified and proficient in handling and managing dangerous goods according to IATA's Dangerous Goods Regulations, ensuring safe transportation of hazardous materials.
* **Weight and Balance Calculations:** Skilled in performing accurate weight and balance calculations to ensure aircraft stability and safe flight operations, adhering to airline and regulatory requirements.
* **Passenger Handling Procedures:** Expertise in passenger handling procedures, including check-in, boarding, and disembarkation, ensuring a seamless and positive passenger experience.
* **Airside Driving Permit:** Possession of a valid airside driving permit and demonstrated ability to operate vehicles safely within the airport's restricted areas, adhering to all traffic regulations.
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
* Supervise and coordinate ground handling activities, ensuring efficient and safe aircraft turnaround operations.
* Oversee ramp operations, including aircraft marshalling, baggage handling, and cargo loading/unloading, adhering to safety regulations.
* Manage and maintain Ground Service Equipment (GSE), ensuring equipment readiness and adherence to maintenance schedules.
* Ensure compliance with airport safety regulations (e.g., FAA, IATA) and Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) in all ground handling activities.
* Conduct weight and balance calculations to ensure accurate aircraft loading and safe flight operations.
* Train and mentor ground staff personnel, providing guidance on ramp operations, safety procedures, and passenger handling techniques.
* Monitor and manage baggage handling systems, ensuring smooth and timely baggage processing.
* Implement and enforce passenger handling procedures, ensuring a seamless and positive passenger experience.
* Coordinate with various airport departments, including flight operations, maintenance, and security, to ensure smooth and efficient ground handling services.
* Respond to and resolve any operational issues or emergencies that may arise during ground handling activities, ensuring minimal disruption to flight schedules.
* Maintain accurate records of ground handling activities, including equipment maintenance, safety inspections, and incident reports.
* Ensure all ground staff possess and maintain valid Airside Driving Permits and operate vehicles safely within the airport's restricted areas.
* Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ground handling operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the ground handling team, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
